"Come unto me all that are heavy laden"

Matthew 11:28-30

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you , and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Last week (3/15/15) in Sunday school I had an epiphany. The Savior is there to help us with our trials we only need to seek him.  He says come unto me and I will give you rest, put my yoke upon you and I will help you to bear your burdens for me, it is easier.  And it is because he has seen it and has been through it because of the atonement.  The Lord is willing to share the burden that you carry, therefore he asks that you put on his yoke.

An analogy/parable if you will, a therapist in a Skilled Nursing Facility setting is similar to the Savior.

As a therapist, you have to be strong enough to help someone to stand. I use a Gait belt around someone’s waist.  Then if the person is taller or heavier and requires 50% of assistance or more I tend to stand in front of the person with a walker in front and block the walker so that it doesn’t move, but I can also use it as leverage. The patient is then asked to scoot to the edge of the chair and push from the armrest and bend forward to stand. As they are pushing, I am pulling, using proper body mechanics, doing most of the work and lessening their burden as the patient is able to stand.

Over time as the patient become stronger, the load that the therapist has to bear is lightened and the patient is able to stand on his own and continue working towards the end goal of being able to return to their home in order to continue with their life.  They then will have the knowledge to endure. Therefore when the next trial or illness comes along or if it does, they remember how to do something and it won’t take as long to recover as the first time.

With that thought, throughout our life, the Lord has taught us the way or body mechanics if you will by reading our scriptures, going to church and praying.  When we require additional help, the Lord is there to “lighten our load” or to do 50% of the work. As we gain more knowledge and become stronger in our testimony, the Lord is able to loosen the reins and we can continue to strive to return home.  When our next trial comes, and it will because the Lord knows that we can handle it, we will have the knowledge that we were taught in the previous one and be able to work towards returning home to live with him in the eternal perspective.

Primary Lessons

I have a calling of teaching the Sunbeams in my ward., They are adorable! half way through the year and my class has dwindled down to 2-3 kids each week and we have a blast.

This week the lesson was on Families Are Forever. The lesson discusses temples and what we need to do to get to the temple. So I came up with a picture that I printed out for the kiddos.

I love it. I printed one off for each of them. Too bad I didn't think, I could have put it in a dollar frame from the dollar store. Maybe their mom's will do that or put it on thier fridge. I just created this in publisher and printed it on photo paper.

My Cool Christmas present!

So for Christmas I received a NINJA blender. This thing is amazing. I started making me some breakfast smoothies. the first day, I put in strawberries, peaches and bananas all which were frozen. In very little time, they were all chopped up in little pieces. It really is amazing!
I my next smoothie, I put in the frozen strawberries and peaches and then added a carrot. Same thing, very little time, I had a great beverage after adding juice and milk to the mix.
My third smoothie has tasted the best.
Here is my recipe.
1/2 cup of greek yogurt
3/4 cup frozen strawberries
3/4 cup frozen strawberries
1 clementine tangerine
3/4 cup 100% Orange Strawberry Banana juice
Mixed it up in the ninja blender and i had 2 cups of a very delish smoothie!

I didn't follow a recipe, I just added whatever I wanted and it taste awesome!

My new goal...

I have a goal to look and feel healthier. I'm not going on a diet, just changing the way I eat. I have decided to make an online journal via my blog of how I am going to do this. What I was doing was eating a fast food meal once a day and then finding something to eat at home in the evening. Just not the way to eat. Also, take out the carbonated drinks and all the baked good and candy. And keep it to about 1500 calories of food a day. and drink about 140 oz of water. Not too hard right?
Here are my day 1 and day 2:

Day 1: Breakfast: I didn't have time to make something for breakfast and there  was a blueberry donut at my house. OOPS!
           Snack: Ham and cheese sandwich.
Lunch: Fruit snack, Granola bar, and Trail mix
Snack: Bowl of cereal, cheese and cracker
Dinner: Ham and cheese sandwich and potato chips, 8 oz of soda.
Drank 48 oz of water.

So the first day is a little harder...

Day 2: Breakfast: My smoothie with strawberries, peaches, and carrot and milk
Snack: 2 cups of kettle corn
Lunch: Big Salad with tomatoes, cucumbers and shrimp dressed with 0 cal Zesty Italian dressing from Sprouts.
Snack: Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich
           Dinner: Cereal
snack: 12 oz of Milk and an orange
For some reason, I couldn't get full after I ate my shrimp salad. Until I drank the milk and ate the orange.

Drank 48oz of water.

I want to add that going from having your food made for you as you go thru the drive thru and making it on your own is super hard....

So for every day, I am going to post what I ate. If there are any yummy recipes, I will add those as well.

My Garden!

SO since I have all this time on my hands, I decided to put a garden in my backyard. My roommate, Jamie, was excited about it too, she bought seeds. The one day we went to Home Depot and bought wood and dirt to put a box back there and fill it for the veggies. So here's what we ended up with for our box of dirt.

A couple of weeks later, after some rain and being couped up inside, I decided it was time to plant my seeds and already grown peppers and tomatoes. So After planting the tomatoes, peppers, beans, lettuce, rhubarb, strawberries, green onions and carrots, I took some pictures!

The marigolds are to keep the cats out. Hope it works.

The Garden!

The back yard view from the patio.

My roommate just told me the other day that the marigolds don't keep the cats out. or it could be that they are dying.

So there are an enormous amounts of cats that roam around the neighborhoods. It's so frustrating. They have ben coming in my backyard and digging in the garden. I thought the marigolds would keep them out, but the other day, Jamie saw them digging in the garden. She scared them off before she went out to work. So if you have any ideas of how to keep them out of the yard, PLEASE, I beg of you, PLEASE let me know!

Cake Decorating

I've have been for the longest time wanting to make/decorate a cake. So when my friend asked me to bring a dessert for her halloween party, this is what I created!

I wonder if it has to do with all the time on my hands that I now have.
