Cake Decorating

I've have been for the longest time wanting to make/decorate a cake. So when my friend asked me to bring a dessert for her halloween party, this is what I created!

I wonder if it has to do with all the time on my hands that I now have.

Changes!

So a few things have changed since I last posted. First it started with losing my job in August. So the rest of August, I worked for my severance pay, then went to UT, for Labor Day weekend to see my new neice! September, Megan came down with here kids, and we had some fun times hanging out togethere. The 3 kids would come play at my house while mom and meg went shopping or did scrapbooking or were cleaning the house for a baby shower. Then my roommate who lived her (sort of--when she was sleeping and getting ready for the day she did) got married in September and moved out. And then Megan left...So, my next task was to find a roommate. Around mid October, the previous roomates couches were moved out, our Relief Society President became engaged... meaning I would be released from the presidency and the RS Pres. roommate, Jamie, needed a place to live. I also worked on my bathroom project, redoing the cabinets. I bought couches for a really good price and pet fish. The last couple of days in Oct. Jamie moved in and we are trying to come up with a name for the place... jamie squared, house of jamies, are two ideas. I still have one more room to fill. But here are some pictures.

Window seat was hidden with couches that were in here before!

Living room with couches and more decor on the wall

Decorations with Fish tank, which is behind the couches, but you see it as you walk into the house.

Now on to the bathroom project.

Cabinets went from oak with stain to black with distressed edges. Very classy and more up to date.

Light fixture went from old 80's style light with two bulbs to this with 5 bulbs... very bright in the bathroom now. It was also brought up to date.

Faucet went from hard water eating away at the base with a single plastic handle you lift to brushed nickel with two handles that you turn.

Total cost for bathroom project: little over $50! and it looks great!

My next project is redoing the master bath. I will be painting the cabinets as well, painting the walls to a lighter shade of plum, changing the light fixtures and faucets and then tiling the bathroom floors in both bathrooms.

Stay tuned for projects coming up!

The inside of my house... some of it!

Nice black appliances

The laundry room that goes out to the back yard.

My little backyard. The Dirt spot used to be a shed, which had remenant of termites so they had to either fix or remove it before the sale would go thru. After they removed the shed, the realtor said that there was a dead cat underneath. YUCK! Good thing they removed it.
I will probably make a garden out there. (or eventually put in a hot tub?)

So here you have it! My first Home!

My New House

So I've been courageous! I decided to take advantage of the house market recently and the stimulus money that the government has so freely decided to share and buy a house. I started the process back in January and had placed 5 offers on different houses 2 of which were on the same one. The majoirty of them were foreclosures/bank owned homes. All of which were great deals but also the banks didn't want to accept my offers on those homes. I did find one that was higher in price but I offered to where I could afford. When I found out that I could get a home that was move in ready at a little higher price then I found the home I bought! Yipee! We placed the offer on the house just 3 days before my birthday and had a signed contract for my birthday!

I was super excited and nervous at the same time. We had set the closing date to be April 30th. So for two months, I waited to get into the home. MY BLUE HOUSE! That was the longest two months that I have ever had to wait for. During all this time I had to make arrangement for house insurance and switched my car insurance to get the cheaper rates. All those crazy arrangements you have to make when buying a home.

Well the time came to sign papers. The escrow officer asked me if I was nervous. I was more excited than nervous! I was so excited that I had a home of my very own. What a great feeling it was to know that I can decorate it, organize it, clean it, paint it, etc. without having to get permission. I was/am in heaven.

Now finding furniture for the place is excited too! I'm loving living there and I can come and go as I please and no questions are asked. I can leave it a mess if I feel like it. It's great!
